Ann Arbor, Michigan

On our way from Chicago to Detroit we decided to camp near Ann Arbor, Michigan, home of the University of Michigan.  This cozy college town felt just like Berkeley plopped in right in the heart of the Midwest.  We looked up a local brewery called "Grizzly Peak" and got a much needed 7-beer sampler.  The winner was their pale ale, which was some of the best pale ale we've ever had, so we got a pitcher of that.  All the beer was great and the food was pretty good too.  After sufficiently hydrated we hit the rest of the town and walked down the main streets toward campus.  On the way Ryro had to get his fix for cupcakes so we made a pit stop at a local cupcake factory.

The campus was beautiful and we spent about half an hour moseying about the paths of U of M.  On our way out of the town we made one last stop at the football stadium.  Boy, was it awesome.  The entire stadium is surrounded by a tall, black iron fence supported by brick columns.  All of the bricks gave the behemoth structure a pleasant rustic look.  After spending a good ten minutes walking around the structure in awe we stumbled upon a lovely surprise: the door to the basketball gym, right next to the football stadium, was unlocked!  Being from Milvia, we didn't think twice of taking a look inside.  Outside the court we "found" a stray basketball sitting all by its lonesome and served as our souvenir from Ann Arbor!

Oh yeah, and the camping was fun too.
